The Pity Party (part 2)

Well it's been a while since I wrote The Pity Party. I wanted tho give you guys an update. A couple months ago I received news that the prodigal son did come home!!!

I prayed for their salvation almost everyday! I am truely glad that now they are found! The Lord did a work in my heart & I began praying for them. Keep praying for your loved ones! It might take time but the Lord will answer your prayers!

Prayer Journaling

Prayer is extremely important in the life of a believer, but sometimes our thoughts are all over the place and it can be hard to focus. So, writing your prayers is a wonderful way to keep on track and remember what you are praying about. I have been writing my prayers for years, and it has been very neat to see where I started and how I have grown in the Lord. You can start by getting any type of notebook you would like. Then begin to write down what is in your heart. You can for anything... your family, friends, your country, even your church. The Word inspires me often when I journal. Different scriptures will speak to me, and I just talk to God about them. Nobody will have the same kind of journal, but the goal is about communicating with God. And a major part of prayer is also listening. Once you write your prayers always take a moment to be quiet, or even pause while you are journaling. The Word of God will speak to you, like the Word has to me! Through prayer journaling you can see progress in your spiritual life. You can see all the times your prayers were answered, or even that God had different plans. You will see your walk with God get deeper as you get into the Word and pray, which is why journaling is a great tool that you can begin using in prayer today!

The Pity Party

  “The older brother became angry and refused to go in. So his father went out and pleaded with him.  But he answered his father, ‘Look! All these years I’ve been slaving for you and never disobeyed your orders. Yet you never gave me even a young goat so I could celebrate with my friends. But when this son of yours who has squandered your property with prostitutes comes home, you kill the fattened calf for him!’

I've been through a lot with this one person in my life, and I love them...but I have to be honest and say in this relationship I felt like the older brother from the parable of the prodigal son. Many times, I have found myself hurt, rejected, or jealous but God always comes as the Father reminding me that everything He has I am a co-heir to. So I can have a party whenever I want! But the question is is it a pity party? God has revealed to me while I was talking with a friend the other day, that I should rejoice and be glad when this person in my life returns to Him! He revealed to me what was in my heart and the feelings that I had. I asked God to forgive me and help me to change my attitude and feelings. I want to be there! Apart of the celebration and giving God praise for this person's returning.

 “‘My son,’ the father said, ‘you are always with me, and everything I have is yours. But we had to celebrate and be glad, because this brother of yours was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.’”  Luke 15:31-32

 I am thankful that one day this person will return and become the prodigal son, but until then I'm praying for this person to return and come to know the Father's love! So I have to ask, have you ever felt like the older brother or the prodigal son?
